The Tuguegarao City Today- Reforms and Programs

The following gathered data are the current programs and reforms which our LGU did in order to showcase the Good Governance.
1. Blood Letting Activity held at Cagayan State University-Andrews Campus
2. Synchronized Barangay Clean Up Drive in 49 Barangays
3. Job Fair for unemployed Tuguegaraoenos.
4. The Ordinances adopted and enacted which are the most priority thrusts for the welfare of the people of Tuguegarao City.
5. Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS)- this project was launched by Business Processing and Licensing office (BPLO) of the City. The goal of this project is to make a faster application and transaction of businessman/woman in completing the documents needed for the operation of their businesses.
5. Opening of youth Rehab Center or also known as "Acting Center For Children in Conflict with the Law" at 2nd Floor, PTU, Don Domingo Market, Tuguegarao City.

In order to maintain the campaign for Ecological Solid Waste Management (RA 9003) in our community, the City Government of Tuguegarao through the leadership of TCENRO gave stickers which bears a tagline "BASURA NG PASAHERO KO, PANANAGUTAN KO" to tricycle drivers. And to establishments which also bears a tagline of "TAPAT KO, LINIS KO! BASURA KO PANANAGUTAN KO". Anyone caught violating provisions of this law will be penalized.

Responsibility of the Tricycle Drivers

In order to have a good system in transportation, every tricycle driver whose regular employment is operating a tricycle has the resposibility to have a Mayor's Permit and a franchise license first before they can operate within the City. Anyone caught to operate without the said permits and license will be penalized.

About Tuguegarao City

Etymology, there are several versions of legends looming about the origin of the name of the city of Tuguegarao. One is the abundance of "tarrao" trees in the area. Another is from the word "tuggi" meaning fire. Another recorded version is, the town was formerly called Tuerao by the people of the northern towns. Still another is that the name Tuguegarao comes from two Ibanag words "tuggi" (fire) and "aggao" (day), possibly referring to a daytime fire that happened in the town . The most accepted version of the legend is the Ibanags' reply to the Spaniards when the latter asked for the name of the place - "Tuggi gari yaw", meaning "This used to be fire", or the town was carved out of the wilderness by clearing and burning.
